Well I noticed that my gasket seems to be leaking around the transmission. I tightened all of the bolts down a little more, but it still seems to be leaking some. When I pull my 5er is seems to leak even more. I quess it is time to change the fluid anyway (40,000 miles), but I wondered if any one else has had this problem and will I have it in the future about every 40,000 miles?

 

i had a similar problem. somehow i bent my driveshaft. and the vibrations caused the seal between the tranny and the transfercase to go bad. i could hav sworn it was the gasket but it wasnt. it cost me around 300 i think. but dont hold me to it.

by the way. i couldnt tell that the driveshaft was bend just by looking at it. but you sure could feel it going down the road. the ford mechanic said it was onlt out about .25 of an inch. but it sure shook the crap out of the truck.
