Lokar Boot HELP!!!

I have a 1954 F-100 with a C-6 transmition that has a Lokar shifter in the floor. My problem is that the shifter linkage comes threw the floor. The last owner made a make-shift console that brought it up. The problem is the console is a coffee can that is carpeted and everytime I go cruzing it gets very warm in the cab. Any one know of a big enough shift boot that would cover the linkage and mount directly to the floor. Please help me

Thanks (Burning up in the cab)

Did you happen to check with Lokar to see if they have what you need? I imagine a good upholstery shop could make you one if they don't have it.

I did check Lokar but the boot they offer is the one that I already have, and I thought one boot would look better that bringing that area back up again.

Look in the Jegs catalog or in their on-line catalog. They have some shifter boots but not sure if they will fit your need.

A guy I used to know had a vinyl one made at an upholstery shop that laced up the back. It came up to the ball on his shifter (Looked good). He had a small factory rubber boot under it, but you could not see it. I don't know if that would help in your case or not.

This is what I run with the Lokar in my jeep. Plain old Hurst shifter boot. Mr Gasket makes some that are a little taller.

Try lining the coffee can and underside of floor near shifter opening with some of the heat reflective stuff. Add a heavey vinal shift boot from an upholstery shop and that should help alot.
