Does anyone know......Are the connections on the back of a stock 54 speedo the same as on a stock 64 speedo?

I am using a 64 3 spd. trans on my 54, and I need to figure out which direction I need to go with the cable hook-up.
I hav'nt seen any universal units that would work.
