Any Tom Clancy fans?

Tom Clancy is undoubtedly my favorite author, love his books. I was wondering if any of you guys were into his novels? I really wish he would have expanded more on Jack Jr. after Teeth of the Tiger. I know he had a slump of so called "bad" books from around the time of Rainbow Six on but I really enjoyed Teeth of the Tiger.

According to Mr. Clancy, Teeth of the Tiger was supposed to have been the end of the Jack Ryan series. Personally, I felt that the book read like part 1 of a longer story. I've been waiting a long time for a new book to come out, expanding on Jack Jr. Either that, or even an entire new set of charectors.

Well after starting the thread, I went over to Amazon and started looking at some books to order. Then I noticed that there is a new Tom Clancy book scheduled to be released 05/06. I did some googling and have heard from the rumor mill that some places have it listed as a new Jack Ryan book. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have yet to find another author that has captured my imagination like Tom Clancy. I am thinking of getting that new Larry Bond book, Dangerous Ground, I imagine his books are really good. Especially after he helped Clancy write one of my favorite books, Red Storm Rising.

Tom Clancy is a great author. I don't have much time to read. Wish I did.

Red face

If You liked Hunt For Red October, check out the Dale Brown series starting with Flight of the Old Dog. If it's technothriller you want, Dale is it .....

I too enjoy Tom Clancey's books. Another author I enjoy is Larry McMertry(sp). This weekend I was in Archer City, TX, the site of THE LAST PICTURE SHOW. The side wall of the theater is missing but they still will show a movie from time to time.

I've touched a couple of his lend his name series books. I wouldn't say that avoid them but I'm not running to them.

Wait a cotton pickin' second.

When the heck did Teeth of the Tiger come out????

I am a big fan, but after Executive Decisions, I kinda lost track.

My wife and mom have bought me several of the Lend a Name'story line books, but they simply are not very good.

I love Tom Clancy, he is hands-down my favorite author.

I love Rainbow 6 and Clear and Present Danger the best. I haven't had time to read them all, I'm currently working on Executive Decision.

I just got done reading Rainbow 6 for the third time. His best IMO. Like TomCat, I thought Teeth of the Tiger seemed line part 1 of 2. I'm glad to see a new book coming out next year.

Does anyone remember the title of the book in which Clark is introduced? I'm sure I read it but can't remember which.

On a sad note, the man who introduced me to Clancy books, a second father to me, died today unexpectedly. Yet another of my hero's (I've always looked to the older/wiser for advice in my life and I'm 41 now) is gone.

Cardinal of the Kremlin, I think was his first major appearence, but he may have been mentioned in Hunt for Red October in passing.

hkiefus, sorry to hear about your loss. The first published book that John Clark was in was Cardinal of the Kremlin. You might also be thinking about Without Remorse that was written later on but in the story timeline is the begening of the series, back when he was John Kelly.

^ I have without Remorse, I'll have to open it back up. I've never read Cardinal of the Kremlin.
