Help - Looking at a '91 F350 Dually

We will be looking at a crew cab F350 dually gasser (460 cu in.) 2WD with the 410 rear end and the 4 spd auto next weekend. Its got very low mileage, and our main interest is to replace our current '89 F250 with something a bit bigger that will allow us to haul our Lance 835 truck camper (about 3,000# loaded with water, clothes, etc.) in the bed and still pull a trailer.

So the questions are:
  • The owner does not have the original manual. What is the GCWR/GVWR of this rig?
  • My current F250 4WD SC grosses about 6300#. I'm presuming this F350 will weigh about 1K# more. Is that about correct?
  • What is the stock size of the fuel tank(s)?
  • Anything in particular that I should be looking for as far as common problems/failures?
  • Any other thoughts before I look?
Thanks for your input.

Should be 10,000 for a 350 dually should be listed in the drivers door tag, fuel tanks should be 17~19 front and don't know about rear.

Problems are efi 460's known for cracking exhaust manifolds and breaking exhaust bolts, rear antilock sensor, otherwise a great engine and truck!

I dont know if there is a size difference between the 150, and 350 fuel tanks.

I heard anywhere from 15-18.x for front to 16-19 for rear i belive.

My rear that i baught for my 91 was an 18.

GVWR should be 10k. Gcwr should be about 16k or so.

I would actually guess that a 2wd dually crew cab would weigh less than a 4wd supercab. That 4x4 gear weighs an awful lot.

Gas tank sizes are 18 for the rear and 19 for the front. 16 gal front tanks were only used with shortbed pickups.

The most common issue is rust. Second behind that is the tranny. If it hasn't been maintained regularly, a rebuild may not be too far away.
