Unhappy 1999 F250 7.3L no response on gas pedal, What to do ?

Hello All

I've read several different posts and seem to think my problem is the CPS sensor.

The truck is a 99 F250 7.3l with manual transmission.

the problem is you will be driving or just idling and the gas pedal goes dead or you get no response from it. You can feather the pedal or shift out of gear and back in and the predal comes back. Its starting to act up more, and now the engine service light soon comes on. I don't now if the tach goes off.

What I've done so far is replace the fuel and air filters.
Thought it was possibly the MAP sensor, so that was replaced. No change.

Now I'm down to replacing the CPS sensor. Any ideas ?

some other post said there is a throttle position sensor (tps) , but talking to Ford and the parts stores they say that isn't on the power strokes. any opinion on that ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The "TPS" does exsist on the powerstrokes but its on the accel pedal. Ford calls it something different. I had the same problem with my 02 f-250 7.3 but it was messing up my auto tranny shifts also. Any way I replaced the accel pedal switch "TPS" and truck runs like new again. I have adjustable pedals so it was like $70.00 from the dealer, because its the whole assy. new pedal and all. Its less than the CPS so hopefully that will fix your problem!

If the cps went out the motor would die. Yours just returns to idle, while in the dead spot right? You need to get the whole pedal assembly. It has the "tps" built into it.

Like Vancouverpower said, you need a pedal assembly. Check out this link: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...&subcat1=73146
