code 402

got a ranger with check engine light on. code read 402. was told it was egr problem. can anyone help me narrow this down a little? thanks!

the year of the truck would be nice but I am going to go out on a limb and say it is 96 or newer and since you got DTC P0402, you need a new DPFE sensor. Its a pretty common problem.
