2.5 liter plugs & wire set
I just got a 2000 ranger with a 2.5 liter 4 cyl. It has 64,000 miles on it. I need to know what plugs and wire set i need to get. I want to get the exact fit/OEM motorcraft wires and autolite plugs ,anyone know the part numbers since i don't have a repair manual yet. Thanks

The new finewire iridium enhanced center electrode, with platinum pad ground side wire design plugs & Motorcraft wires are recommended, as they're designed to take the Double work load our "waste spark" ignition system puts on them.
Use a Wire gauge to ease up on & set spark gap at the min side of spec. Don't pull the gauge through too tight a gap, so as not to damage the sidewire platinum pad, or fine wire center electrode.
Butter on a Thin layer of good quality GE, Dow Corning, or Permatex/Loctite silicone grease inside the plug wire boot on both ends & plug external ceramic, to prevent flash over, on damp morning, or rainy day starts.
Spread a small dab of Permatex high temp nickel anti-seize compound onto the plug threads being careful not to get any on the internal, or external ceramics & torque them in to the Low side of spec, to allow for the anti-seize lube effect, so as not to over tighten & stretch threads, or mess with the set spark gap. This will help make & maintain a good plug ground connection & ease removal next time.
Some additional thoughts for consideration, let us know how it goes.

This morning I pulled the 2 easy plugs on the exhaust side and found the orignial AWSF32F plugs, one was gapped at .65 the other was .78. I checked the wires and had good spark going thru,so the coils are good and firing, but getting new wires set to be sure, so when I remove them I won't have to worry about tearing the wires apart. I had ordered the "Motorcraft WR4109"wire set and 8 "Autolite XP104" plugs. Thanks for the info
