F150 rear bumper on Highboy

I have a very nice chrome rear bumper I took off of my wrecked 77 F150 and would like to put it on my 76 Highboy. The brackets on the bumper are 38" apart and the Highboy frame is 34". Has anybody here done anything to make a regular bumper fit on a highboy? I dont have a welder here. Is there some sort of spacer I could use ?

it depends how the bumper is attached if the mounts bolt to the bumper what I'vedeone is remove the brackets and put them on the other doing this narrowed the brackets enuff to bolt it to my hiboy frame but if the brackets are welded its a whole different story get the torch and welder out

Thanks for the reply. I think I figured out how to do it. I have to take the mounting brackets on the new bumper, and move them to the opposite side. This will give me 3" narrower, and I guess I will just get it up there, bolt it, and tighten it up and hope the brackets snug up to the the frame.

as long as it is mainly for cosmetics, you could get away with building spacer blocks for it, might work out for you.Just don't get any ideas of towing...

Im trying to get the stock step bumper ( I think its stock) off of the Highboy. The bolt on the inside of the frame has no head on it, just tiny ridges like the edge of a dime. I got one off by using big vise grips on the bolt and a socket on the nut, but I cant get the other 3 off, just keeps turning. Any ideas ?
