04 Aviator Overhead DVD trouble with aftermarket radio
Just installed a Kenwood DDX-7015 w/ the navigation system, and now I can't get the overhead DVD unit to work. I have it all powered up with both 12v's going to the unit but it turns on then turns off in about 5 seconds. I place the factory unit in and all is fine. I also checked the voltage and amps from the factory unit and tried to simulate the same power but no luck. The weird thing is that if you hold the power button down it turns on and the unit works but when you let go it shuts off. fficeffice" /><O></O>
If someone if familiar with this please by all means help me out.<O></O>

The factory unit has a wire that goes to all the remote equipment such as the DVd that tells them that the audio system is on. There is a post on the 20 pin wiring diagram here that shows that. The dvd requires 3 voltage sources. One battery- for memory, one for illumination and the other to turn it on. Search for dvd wiring.

I did a little more checking and came to the conclusion that the stock HU has 2 wires for data communications in the 16 pin behind the HU without them the DVD won't work. I relocated the stock HU under the second row middle seat ran power to it and ran the ASYSON wire(12V turn-on) and the 2 data communications wires to the DVD and everything works fine. If anyone needs any wiring pinouts and connector views please give me your email address and i'll forward them over to you.
