Around where you live ?
What is your region in the world mostly known for?
Plese keep it Within 10 Miles of your residence
Where I live now, It would have to be:
1) Being Right in the middle of the Ranching/Farming of the province.
2) Right on the edge of the Oil & Gas Industry for the province.
3) The Hub of Alberta Tourism.
We have the most Unique Turkey's (Poultry) that anyone has ever seen, I'm sure.
NW us may be gerbil infested but,
we have well endowed Turkey's.
I have a pic of one..... But it can't be posted here
And You ?

Philadelphia sports complex, it used to be real historic but first they tore down JFK Stadium where the original Live Aid was and the put up the Corestates Center (Flyers & Sixers) then they tore down Veterans Stadium and made a parking lot. But the new Phillies and Eagles stadiums are real nice too.
Center City Philadelphia, where I work has too much to list but here area some.. Liberty Bell (Constitution Center), Art Museum, Zoo (first in U.S.), Betsy Ross House, Independence Hall.

I guess in my area it would be:
Golden Gate Bridge (jumpers capitol, sorry)
Chinatown (largest Chinese district outside of China)
Fishermans Wharf
Alcatraz Island
North Beach
Fort Point (underneath the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge)
The Presidio
The Bay
Golden Gate Park
Cable Cars
Resturants
Too much to list.....
Some dam publication voted S.F. the #1 tourist destination; just passed Paris, France for that category.

Central Virginia and Charlottesville in particular are well known for
Thomas Jefferson
James Madison
James Monroe
Monticello (Jefferson's home)
University of Virginia (founded by Thomas Jefferson and saved from destruction during the Civil War by being surrendered and placed under control of George Armstrong Custer)
The Waltons and everything related to it (Earl Hamner the author of The Walton's grew up just south of town and most of the places and people are real-- as a matter of fact the Dew Drop Inn (remember when Jason played music there?) is still operational in Scottsville)
Tulakivi soapstone stoves has their quarry near Walton's mountain
The Dave Matthews Band is from here and some of the band can regularly be seen hanging out at local bars
Great smallmouth bass and catfish fishing on the James river.
And the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (where they crash all those cars together to get the crash ratings) is located just north of town.
