Question Hitch Height

I just purchased a 2005 F-150 4WD with the towing package. The truck has a receiver for a trailer hitch. Being the truck is much higher than my 1993 F-150 2WD, I'm going to need a drop ball mount.

I will be towing a 5x10 tilt trailer.

My question is, with the trailer connected to the truck... żDo I want the trailer tongue to be as level as possible? or żDo I want it tilted up or down a little bit?

Thanks in advance,
J.B.

I have always been told to keep the trailer level when hitched up to the truck.

Thanks Ulf. I was thinking it was level or maybe tilted downward a little bit. Not being sure, it didn't cost too much to ask.

Actually, you want the trailer to be level when loaded and the load on the trailer to be distributed evenly across the trailer. If the trailer rides a little high at the hitch when unloaded, you should not have a problem unless you loose ground clearance at the rear of the trailer. Happy towing.
