Too bad you don't have an F-250 Superduty p/u/ My company owns two that were bought in Canada with the metric dash and we would like English. Not sure if my co. president is too tightfisted to do the conversion or if he tried and could not. SorryPerhaps a Canadian will see this who brought one back from the states and has done the conversion or vice versa.
You may be able to purchase a metric intrument panel and swap out the face plates. I suspect the needle moves the same amount on either one. It's just the display that is different. That would take care of everything except the odometer. Back in the 80's and 90's I remember seeing cars that would alternate between metric and English by hitting a selection button or switch. Too bad that better idea was done away with though I still have that option on the overhead console of my 2003 F-250 for outside temp, fuel economy, and distance to empty. Good luck with it.

You are correct regarding speedometer. The odometer on many vehicles is in miles only here is the US. I've had vehicles in the past that allowed you bounce back and forth between the Metric and "US units" on the odometer but nothing I have now will do it. I'm not familiar with the instrument panel on the 02 explorer. Are the temp and oil pressure gauages idiot gauges (L-H, C-H) or are the numerated with units?
And yes, the English are now metric - touche'. We still refer to it both ways here. US and/or English units. Metric is referred to as SI or metric depending on whether you are in an engneering office or an auto parts store.
