Ventilation controls dont work

My 04 f-150 vent controls have stopped working. When the heat or the A/C is on the air blows out the defroster, dash vents, and the floor at the same time.
Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Is this manual control or Auto Climate? Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak.

Thats what I think to, but by design it should go to defrost only.
I am going to have to get out my vacuum pump and check things
out.

happend to me, I have the electronic controls and it broke three or four times. It would always default to the dash vents rather than defrost though. I could press any of the buttons to change flow, but it always came out of the dash vents. They ended up replacing the plenum and actuator the last time. Before that they told me the actuator arm was faling off. H ope this helps.

I ran the engine for a few minutes to build vacuum and then shut it off. I moved the controls back an forth and I could hear something moving inside the plenum.
I wonder if the arm has fallen off one of the doors. Othrs have also mentioned
this.
I'll take it in and report back. Thanks for the responses.

I have been having problems with my manual system. When I had it on defrost only barly any air would blow out the defrost vents. I have had this happen several times. Every time I take it to the dealer, it starts to work.
