6.9 to 6.9 or 7.3?

I have an 85 F250 4X4 with a worn out 6.9L in it. It burns alot of oil and knocks and rattles. I have the option of changing engines to another 6.9L out of an 85 2WD F250 or a 7.3L out of an 89 F250. Both motors are runable in the trucks they are in and will both need checking over before using. Which would be the better swap? Besides electrical what mechanical differences would there be if I went to the 7.3L? Clutch? All trucks are standard transmission. The 7.3L I believe has the 5 speed over the 4 in the other two trucks.
