Hi KevinM, I'm presuming you arn't running a tuner on your truck? The only reason I ask is while I'm sure you've done your homework and your numbers are correct, I was addressing the 'feel' of the truck.

I could be wrong here, but in the time I've been reading these forums, most people who ask for more horsepower/torque are not so much trying to improve their top end, or their quarter mile time, as they are trying to get the trucks to feel more powerful in normal driving. Useable, pit of the stomach power, not paper power.
Of course I could be wrong here. If he's towing something huge, in which case I recommend a good Superduty with diesel, or racing, for which the supercharger sounds about right.
I am guessing he's just like most users here, wants it to feel stronger between the street lights.
Oh well, I'll drop out now, I'm afraid we highjacked his thread.
Have a good'un
Chris

I did just the K&N Drop in filter and noticed some improvement.

When your truck is 10" taller than stock that's when HP/torque is required (mine will be 10+" taller come Wednesday) I plan to buy the Superchips 1714 - from what I have read and what I have seen on friends trucks it's the best way to go. They run a mixture of 87/91 and both dudes felt more HP/Torque. YES the 91 is better but at 2.40+ a gallon I will settle for less for now.

I may do the Airraid JR intake tube swap and see what happens there.

As stated above there are numerous ways to go to get what you want. Just research each piece and see what is best for you!

In the end even the SLOW 5.4 F150's look SOOOOOO much better than anything on the road today - IMO!

Mixture?? They add some 87 and half 91? Or do they alternate at each fill up? Also are there different Superchips out there for differing needs/wants? Like is there a Superchips 1820 model?

They both have tried each octane 87/91 and there is more Power at 91 but I myself do NOT wantg to pay that much for gas.

More power = higher gas price = more money spent from hot roddin!

I have used both the 87 and 91 octane tunes with my 1714 and there is a huge difference in power between the two. As for the mileage- I got 1 to1 1/2 MPG better with the 91 tune, so it actually pays off.

BTW- the Xcalibrator 2 will be available in the next few weeks. It is going to be the ultimate custom tuner on the market! Its on my next list of mods.
