The only difference between the 5.4 and the 6.8 is power, lots of power. Your mileage may remain the same or even better with the ten-banger. And there's no substitute for cubic horsepower. Check some of the mileage posts, that V-10 is a fine engine, I know, Ken

Going to See Jeff

I'll be flying up to NY tomorrow to pick up my new van from Jeff. It'll be about a 900 mile drive back home.

I'll let you know how it went when I get back.

Thanks for all the help and support.

congratulations!!!

on the way home read the recommended break-in procedure. pretty much be gentle, keep the rpms low, and vary the rpms from time to time and it should be properly broken in by the time you get home.

I just wanted to update everyone since I got my new E350 V-10. Iv had it for a week. I am really impressed with the amount of power this fan has at just about any speed I can hit the gas and pick up 20-30km/h in just a few seconds. Iv done a couple firm starts from standstill, unbelievable power. In addition to all the power of the v-10, the transmission feels rock-solid, theres no searching for gears. Only complaint I have is the tow/haul button on the end of the shifter keeps going on when I shift the odd time. Other than that the van is awesome.

Thanks to all you guys down in Lorain who put these machines together, you guys put together an awesome machine!

Ahhh - another happy member of the V-10 club. Welcome dan001978!

The V-10 will make anyone a believer. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I've heard it said that the V-10 is a poor man's diesel. I'm thinking the V-10 is a smart man's diesel.

I would have to agree with you on that one Jeffnick. I test drove a diesel and I cannot for the life of me understand how you can get used to that rattling. Im quite content to keep my 5 grand and have nice quiet and smooth ride. Im glad I bought a V-10!

One thing about Ford they need to understand is the dealer is a direct reflection of their name. Bad dealers equals bad customer experience which equals no repeat buyers.

I myself am sorry you've all had this much trouble. We only build what's on the orders so if they screw up when ordering we can't know. It just puzzles me how it can be botched so often. A mistake here and there is human, but if these vans are that confusing to order then the sales people need some training.

Shortohio, this thread is 6 years old. Since that time, Ford shuttered the Loraine plant, and started building the E-Series out of the Avon Lake plant. I don't know if SuperCrewDude made the transition, but it looks like his last post on this forum was 2008.

I just took delivery of my 2011 e-350 at the end of January. It took about 6 weeks to deliver, and unlike the unfortunate folks that started this thread, my order was perfect! My dealer gave me good info all along - with the exception of my van arriving about a week earlier than expected.

Seems like SuperCrewDude was a great resource for us all....

Anyone else on this forum work at the Avon Lake factory?

timr21,
We really did have a time getting our van, but we've been totally happy with it. She's got over 100,000 miles and still going strong.
