5.0 Ranger?

5.0 Ranger?
I am looking at a 2003 ranger supercab, it has a 3.0 engine in it and i was wondering if i could do a motor swap and add a worked 5.0 motor in there, kinda like svt did but without having to move the firewall and everything. has anyone done this swap? If anyone knows where i could find info on doing engine swaps that would be greatly appreciated, thanks--Dinty01

www.v8ranger.com is a good source of info. I couldn't tell you much about it personally. I would recommend doing the swap in something older than '96 though, so you don't have to worry about OBD-II and emissions testing (if you have to pass those things where you live, that is).

Yes OBD-II is a problem, but the ranger will cost me nothing actually, its my dads work truck and he has already put 75000 miles on it and it isnt even 2 years old yet!!! So hes looking to get rid of it and i thought its a perfect platform for a sleeper ranger. Im thinking if i run a 302 from a 93 mustang my buddy has with the ecm and all necessary wiring i can get rid of the OBD-II and still have the ECM port in the engine bay to scan the computer and mod it. But i need to figure out how to register it, I have been told theres a way to register a car as a custom car and there are more relaxed regulations on vehicles then, I need to look into that as I have some riends that do kit car work and they can def tell me. Thanks for your post and i will def check out the v8 ranger website.

I posted it there as well, i was hoping that someone int his forum might have some info as well not necessarily reguarding the swap itself but of other things they had to modify etc to make it all work together. Also, i dont read other forums unless im looking for something so the ppl that read the ranger forum might not look in the engine swap forum, thats why i posted it here.
