havent had it a month and now needs alternator!!

ok i bought a used 99 f150 SC w/ 5.4L and a bearing is going in the alternator. it onlyt had a 50/50 30 day warr. on it so i got kinda stuck with this. the dealer said he would pay half for his guys to install a new one.

i proposed that he pay for the alternator and i will install it and he liked that idea. ($130 vs. $175 on his end).

what i have found is the parts stores list two styles of alternator and two amp ratings.

will it hurt putting a 135 amp on the truck vs the 95 amp unit???

how do i know which one i have?

If it is an XLT with all of the power options, it should be a 130amp. It may have it stamped in the alt. somewhere. I would take the old one to match it up to be sure.
