Im an old 61 Yr old hippy inliner drag racer lost in the 60's some where between a 12.50 sec flathead ford V8 "t" roadster and a 57 mga 250 chevy 11.20 sec gasser. My goal is to rebuild the mga roadster convertable with an up to date 300 ford six. My shop truck is a 1963 ranchero with a 170 six. I mention this to show that im a real ford truck guy.
My occupation is tool design and manufacturing for the heat exchanger industry.I run a one man tool and die shop and do machining and tig welding for local tube benders in tulsa, ok.
Lately business has been slow and I have been thinking about rebuilding my mga. After some research it seems that the ford inliner 300 is in a bad need of a decent flowing head. One look at the stock cast iron piece was enough to cause me to reject my plans and go back to a chevy six, but the big bore, healthy crank and obvious beef of the lower end made me consider other options.I was leaning toward a cross flow hibred like the one I used on my chevy 250 back when corvette 2.02 cast iron heads were the real deal. However, todays technology as in the ls1 chevy and 4.7 ford modular engines are the real deal now.
So, thats my quest, an aluminum ls1 head for my 1800# mga street convertable that my wife and I can enjoy.
Thanks,
bill
