Glass Headlight Lens Source for 1991 F350 ?
Anyone know a source for glass headlight lenses (assy) for
the 87-91 Ford trucks?
The plastic lenses on mine are kinda milky/foggy.
There is a hard coating on them, that is gone in
some areas. I'd rather not just replace them with
the same thing and have to do it again in 10 years.
I tried polishing compound, and even MEK (which is
how I found out about the coating... it in impervious
to chemicals). I eventually used 600 grit to get the
coating off, them rubbing and polishing compound,
but it still looked bad, so I did the 600 grit again and
put clearcoat on them. They are better than before,
but still I'm not getting all of the light put out by the
bulbs out onto the road.
Why they went away from sealed beams for a simple
rectangular shaped light I just don't understand.
I'm temped to hog out the lens and put in rectangular
sealed beam directly into the housing/lens assembly.

I have been thinking about going with round sealed beam headlights
for a retro look. Maybe I should get some of those diamond cut
conversions that let you use the 9004 bulbs in vehicles that originally
had the round sealed beams. That would give me the parts I need,
and I could still use the original wiring and connector.
I could just paint the old lenses flat black and set the new round
ones into the old lens by cutting round holes in them and drilling
holes for fasteners to use the headlight retainer rings to hold
the round ones in place.
I would still have the stock headlight adjuster screws and
everything, and could easily go back to stock at any time.
