The EMM will probably record what you did, so I'd be figuring on buying a new engine out your own pocket. Should be a good learning experience..

I thought that even if you shifted into 2nd, or even 1st for that matter, that the engine would shift anyway to prevent such a thing. Plus isn't there a rev limiter built into these things?

I wouldn't doubt if I've hit 70 in second while passing. If I jam on the gas I'm sure I can hear it dropping a few gears and with a 4-spd auto wouldn't that make it second gear?

Mmmm... I would play stupid and see what the dealer has to say about the truck not starting.

I know when down shifting the transmission won't shift into the lower gear until you are at a safe speed to do so. However, I believe you may do some damage if you start out in 2nd and accelerate to redline.

Good luck!

The engine cannot be over-revved. The computer has a rev-limiter.

The truck and transmission should be able to sustain any governed RPM no matter the gear.

If the engine wasn't broken in rev limiter or not it could have cooked it.
