Hey guys, I've got a '95 PSD w/ Banks Kit, straight pipe, disconnected ebpv with an auto tranny. I was wondering how I can get the thing to be completly annoying and blow that black smoke I hear so much about but dont ever see. I also wouldnt mind the turbo winding up faster giving me more mid throttle accel. Any ideas.

Turn up the injector pump??? Yeah.........here at the Ford site I don't think that's the answer to your problem. To start how big is the Banks set up you have. Maybe you need a bigger tuner. But to start, I would address the air intake and downpipe for faster turbo spool. Then for smoke, you could add a 10k mod or clamp. FPR shim etc. Anything that helps dump more fuel. Just a tuner did it for me. I got the superchips 1705 with the 10k mod and it blows pleanty of smoke out the stacks. I'm sure everyone will help you answer that soon.

Good luck with your problems.

Well you are contadicting yourself. The whole point and goal of the Banks kit is more air in and lower EGT's which means more power and less smoke. You say you want the turbo to spool up faster. There again more air in and less smoke. The reason guys are seeing black smoke is because at lower Rpm's they stand on the accelerator and it takes a second for the turbo to spool up and push in more air. The black smoke is incomplete combustion of the diesel fuel thus a rich burning motor until the turbo spools up. So you need to decide what you want smoke or performance.

Yep - what Fire Rooster said!!
If you want smoke - you gotta get more fuel to the motor. It's a lot harder to roll the black stuff with an automatic tranny since you can't lug the motor near as much as you can with a manual. Get yourself a chip with a high HP setting, and you should be able to blow some black... that or wrap a rag around your air filter.....
