Rear brake light on cab

Rear brake light on cab
My 98 Ranger's rear light (and back up light) above my cab has never worked. I've checked bulbs & fuses, but nothing's burned out. What's funny is I'll go down the freeway and see other Rangers about the same year, and their cab lights don't work when they brake either. You don't know unless someone tells you. Not all, but quite a few.
Thanks

2001 Ford Ranger, 3rd cab light and Passenger tail stop light not working
I have replaced everything in line to resolve this issue. The 3rd cab light and passenger turn signal still do not work. Press the brakes no tail lights at all. I have had this checked out by the professionals and all they tell me is the multifuncational switch is bad. I have replaced this switch, brake pedal switch, all bulbs and a few broken connectors (re-wired them even), replace the light sockets for the rear brake lights. Sorry this is rather out of order but the frustration level is rising.
Seems even the pros cant find this one. Help! Please!
