1964 292, what can you tell me
I've got a 19642 one ton, with what I'm thinking is a 292 and a three speed. I've got to go hack the eng/trans out somtime this weekend, so I'll know for sure then. Just curious what you can tell me about this engine, is the one ton version any different than the lighter duty trucks, is it worth anything to anyone, maybe? I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but it beats letting it go to the scrap yard. Thanks.

It is the last production year of the Y Block and any 292 is worth saving. The blocks were the same on all trucks & cars and yours would be a C2AE casting if it was original.
If the truck was a F600 or if originally ordered with a HD 292 option it would have a forged crank and special rods along with a 4bbl and often duals. Those are valuable. The VIN would tell you what it came with.
