Daytime Running Lights

Just wondering if it's an option on new Chevy/GMC fullsize trucks to have one of the daytime running lights burned out. Seems at least half of these truck I see have one of these lights out(mostly driver side). Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this rare option.

If it was me I'd let both of those things burn out but then again I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those sissy trucks.

Yes sissy trucks w/ their low step in heigth (for the skirt wearing crowd), sad "front collision friendly" bumper heigth, and their no low-end torque gas motors. How about their 3 pc. frame. That's 2 places to separate more than I'd like to have. Or maybe their "safty oriented" daytime running lights.
Not that it matters to me too much but did you know the silvarado is also the 3rd worst polluting vehicle out there, behind the #1:surbaban & #2:-3/4ton Ram. It was rated even worse than the "eco-unfriendly" Excursion. GM's got a winner all around here.

Daytime Running Lights

LAST EDITED ON 22-May-01 AT 09:52 PM (EST)[p]Saw two on the road today winking at me. A good customer pulled in the yard with his new one that he has had for approx 6 months. The passenger side daytime light was out. could be a rain water problem. Too new of a truck to be having bulb problems.

LAST EDITED ON 23-May-01 AT 04:35 AM (EST)[p]Seems a lot of New Chevy's are having problems with the passenger's side DRL. Maybe that's a factory option to have the bulb installed? Or it could be that it just shows that Chevy puts more crap on a vehicle than is needed! Ford's DRL's are a tleast made in with the headlights. Chevy had to go & be different and put extra lights in under the headlights. Half of them don't work! Seems fitting that someone like slacker, would praise Chevy for having a "better" truck! You can definitely see those things coming, theyre the precious one's "winking" at you!

Or is it one of those things that people like clacker don't want to talk about, because it makes their precious trucks look worse!

Chevy's are to look at, Ford's are for Working, driving, and playing!

Why do you think there are more aftermarket parts to "dress up" chevy trucks than there are for Ford's? Because they would rather buy it for status, than Work. Seems like they fit right into Slackers nitch! I have yet to hear slacker say anything about putting a load in that thing they call a truck!

Otto, I am assumming that it was a DRL system of some sort. The only lights that are on are the headlights. No parking, marker, or tail lights. It is very possible that these trucks may have some type of after market system. City or county vehicles are normally retrofitted one way or another with some type of equipement depending on the application of the vehicle.

I never noticed this before, until I read this post. Saw 2 of these things driving yesterday, both with one light.

Maybe it is a way for GM to get people to notice their trucks? Lol. .

Daytime Running Lights

Almost every new chevy i see has one of the daytime running lights burned out. One thing I have to give GM credit about is how comfortable the back seat sits in the new full size extended cab trucks. Also I wonder if those new 5.3 and 6.0 engines are better than the old 350's and 454's that wouldn't take the work we had for them.
