Any suggestions on what the new store should be called?

 

Kears? Semart?

 

Don't have a name, but I really hope that Kmart doesn't run Sears like they did Kmart.

Kmart is one of the worst run stores I've seen, never have things in stock, poor help.

Let us hope the Craftsman tools don't get screwed up, I NEED good tools.

 

Just think, soon you will be able to buy your lawn tractor and Martha stewart stuff all at the same place......

 

There are plenty of good alternatives to Craftsman tools. First and foremost is Snap-On, but I think those are far too expensive for someone that doesn't use 'em professionally (I do). Husky makes fairly decent tools, and I've heard Stanley makes decent ones too. I've gotta agree with you though, I hope that sears doesn't get as crappy as Kmart was.

 

Since Home Depot has a lifetime warranty on the Husky tools, I can see Craftsman tools fading from existance in the next 20 years. I haven't bought any Craftsman tools in the last 10 years.

What would a Martha Stewart Table saw look like? Probably have a cutting wheel to cut through steel bars and still stay sharp enough to slice through a kiwi fruit. Also includes a pink handled shank. Extra slippery bar of soap not included. Sorry, bad, I know.

Instead of an Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer....we will see Martha Stewart Edition Craftsman lawn tractors!! DOH!!

As Martha would say....Torque wrenches are a good thing!! LOL!!

 

I worked at Kmart, the only time I ever noticed a quality/stocking issue was after they filed bankruptcy and closed all the stores. I always found that kmart had a better selection of what I was looking for at better prices than our wal mart.

 

As for quality tools, rumor I heard is that the premium napa hand tools (behind the counter, not the crappy evercraft ones up front) are made by the same company as makes craftsman, with the same warentee. Hard to beat snap-on though.

 

My guess is it would be called Sears still. K-mart did the buying but they are using "Sears Holding Corp." as the name. So I would think the name of the store will stay Sears. I could be wrong though, not like thats never happened before..

 

I dont understand how a company that filed for bankruptcy and had to shut down several stores is now able to turn around and purchase another large company. Isn't it true that if an individual files for bankruptcy they are pretty much screwed for 7 years? Its only what I have heard. I have not and do not intend to ever file bankrupt. I could only imagine what kind of stuff will happen. I have never found kmart to be any cheaper than any other comparable retailer anyhow. They always seemed to be more expensive. Pretty soon there probably wont be any competition with everyone merging and buying out other companies. We'll just have one big super store that sells all the finest imported crap that you can buy. Even groceries.

 

It's not so much Kmart that had the money but Edward Lampert. He took over Kmart and has a extensive financial portfolio to boot.

 

I'm pretty sure that you won't see much of a big change in Sears. If K-Mart does start changing Sears, especially tool wise, they are idiots for fixing what is not broken. I heard on the news earlier that both stores will be keeping their respective names.
