37's and without regearing the 3.73's is like stock tires with a 3.19 rear end and make the motor work harder when towing much weight and I'd expect your fuel mileage to suffer when towing too.
Not really a fair comparison.

Daryl, I wasn't comparing them at all, they are two totally different trucks, just telling my situation. I do all my calc's by hand and I do take into account the ~14% difference the tires make against the odometer. I think it's having the truck an extra 12+ inches in the air and having the big tires kill the diesel mileage. I've tried slowing down to 65 and I MAY gain .5 MPG, not worth it to me.
Roger, I'm sure the speed doesn't help, but going any slower than 70 here will get you run over. I'll be changing gears here pretty soon, so I'll see how RPM @the same speed changes MPG. Should be interesting.

I have gotten about 325 miles out of a 38 gal tank with farm work and 33x12.50 Pro Comps and a 3.73 ls. But, if your gonna buy a truck of this size and a motor this big, does gas mileage really matter? I have no regrets with this motor and don't ever worry about the gas milage. I just know this 02 F-350 sc long bed is a monster and always puts a smile on my face from ear to ear when driving it!

Usually around 400 in daily driving (11mpg or so)
and can get 580+ on the highway.(15+ mpg) '01 Ext cab LB with 3.73 gears stock tires.
When I put my summer tires on (305/70R16s) I lose about 40 in daily driving and a little less in highway.
Anybody else squeezed 39+ gallons in a 38 gal tank??

how much is cold weather supposed to affect the gas mileage?
because that was some bad stuff, i filled up a tank and a half before i could get to 300 miles that is really bad in my rule book
i still love that truck it has done wonders in wintery snow driving i would not trade it for the world
about the 31 gals in the tank, found a sticker somwhere in my truck that said tha it was aquiped with a 33 gal tank but i don't see how that is possible because it always tops off at about 30 or so. i dont know!
any how i just got out of the military and i am about to drive back home to TEXAS from NY and i am putting together a poll:
HOW MUCH GAS DO YOU ALL THINK IS GOING TO TAKE ON THE DRIVE?
33's on 161/2 rims, loaded with about 1000 pounds and towing a jetta, also carring four passangers including my self.
thanks for playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I averaged 10.81 mpg for my '03 tax year with my truck '02 F350 4x4 SRW V-10 6 spd 4.30 LS w/35's and at least half of the time I am pulling a trailer with 5-10K on it. I can not complain at all. I have a '05 F350 4x4 DRW c/c in the process of getting a body and I can only hope to do as good as what my '02 does. I did travel to Penn. this fall with my winter tires and average 75 mph for the 370 mile trip and I averaged 13.5mpg down empty and 13mpg back with an extra 1500lbs. Empty weight was 7000lbs. I was impressed, I went with a fellow that took his '04 two wheel drive duramax and he averaged just under 10mpg for the whole trip down and back .I can say I was not impressed with his mileage.
