All you tire guru's......

I have a 2004 FX4 and have been looking for tires with a more agressive tread for the horrendous winters we get here in NW Pennsylvania - of course finding 275/65/18's is near impossible. I found a BF Goodrich dealer that has 285/65/18's that he said will work just fine. He stated that they were 9/10 of an inch bigger so even the speedo shouldn't be far off. But, I want to ask the people that drive trucks what they think - appreciate your opinions and advice.

Thanks,

Rich

As far as the BF Goodrich Alll Terrain TA/KO they are great winter tires. I take my Goodyears off and use the BFGs in the winter. As far as size, I believe others have put 33s on with no problems and no lift.

I ws thinking of getting them 285/65 18 AT's for my truck but Discount tire wants $291.00 so I'm gonna just get 17" wheels ant tires for close to the same price as just getting them AT's

Lightbulb

You might want to check www.tirerack.com for reviews and ratings for snow, ice, etc. Just enter the tire size and it will show the different tires of that size.

Forgot to mention in my initial posting the tire is the BFG T/A KO 285/65/18. I am going to assume the larger size will work just fine? I also checked with a local rim shop, and he gets trade in stock rims from his customers that want other fancier rims. I can get the rims just like the ones on my FX4 for a hundred bucks a piece.

The 285 Would Be .39" Wider And 1/2 " Taller. I Am Sure They Will Fit Just Fine. You Are Only Looking At 1 Size Upgrade And Most All Vehicles Cars Included Can Run 1-2 Sizes Larger With No Problems.to Determine The Exact Dimensions On Any Tire Use This Formula

Tread Width(1st#)285 Divide By 25.4 =11.22 Then Multiply That # By The Aspect Ratio(2nd# In Tire Size), In This Case 75 % And You Get 8.42. Multiply This X2 Plus Whatever Your Rim Diameter And It Gives You The Overall Height
8.42x2=16.84+18=34.84" Overall Height. So A 285/75r18 In Standard Dimensions Wiuld Actually Be 34.84 X 11.22.
I Know Some Can Use This Info As For The Others Sorry To Bore You:-x17

gpeade, the aspect ratio on these is 65. Tire diameter ends up at 32.8".

Does anyone know of a good 20" tire that is all terrain, (maybe off-road) I can only find the low profile stylish kind. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Just ordered a new set of BFG 32x11.5 TA. Put 60K plus on the current pair, and they don't owe me a dime.

Check the BF Goodrich site. They have the All Terrains in 20's now too.
