I looked at some of the CA docs online, and what little I could find didn't say anything about 1973 light-duty trucks. And the rest of it seemed to be lawyer gooblygook.
you are smog exempt. i have a 73 f250 with a 460, and when i asked about it i was told that anything older than 25 model years is exempt, but that law is about to change, and i think it is gonna be anything older than a certain year, no more of the whole "each year, another years worth of vehicles becomes exempt"
Actually the law changed recently to 25 years old from the old "pre 74". I have a 75 f250 and I was waiting for the day I could register my truck w/o smog.
You guy's haven't been keeping up. The governator just signed into law, effective Jan 1, 2005, that the 25 year rule is no longer in effect. Anything from 1976 back is smog exempt. If your vehicle is 1977 and up you are stuck with smog from now on. Mine is a 1977 F250 and I am disgusted. One more year and I would have been exempt.
I know what you mean wb6vvv, I too was looking forward to the day i non longer needed smog checks. I have 77 F-250 w460 and c-6. That really ****ed me off.
