53 Flathead 6V with Petronix Ignitor

Interested in installing a Petronix Ignitor in my 53 F100 driver. Still have the original 239 Flathead that runs great, but want to improve performance. Running an 8V battery with positive ground. Questions are, has ony one done this, will it work with pos ground and should I do it.

I installed the pertronix in my 55 Fairlane with the stock 272/6-volt/positive ground. It has worked great for the two years since I did it. You have to get the special pertronix unit for your application. Also, let them know 6-volt with positive ground. I don't tthink the 8 volt battery will be compatable though. Be sure that you ask the supplier. Good luck, John

Not sure of your application, but I have been running the Mallory dual point distributor on my 289. I bought the conversion kit from pertronix and love it. Easy to install, and the truck runs nice. Got sick of paying big bucks for points and they never seems to get dialed in well. I'd advise asking on their coil also. Pertronix doesn't work with all coils. I have the Mallory procoil, which was compatible.
