Towing Capacity For 89 Bronco II
Hey all[br]
I have an 89 Bronco II, and we just got some snow fall and my friends are already bitching about sliding off the road. I'm 16 and my friends and I do some really stupid stuff, and I just want to prepare since I have the only "truck" in the group. What is the maximum towing capacity of the truck... How much weight can I put on the rear bumper? I know I have the hitch there, but I dont wnana rip the bumper off...[br]
Also, how much do hooks for my frame cost? I wanna be able to hook chains onto my truck under on the frame so I don't damage my baby.[br]
My first truck Hope she lasts awhile...

I don't have a manual handy, but I've an '87 with stick shift and
my capacity is supposed to be 2,000 lbs., limited by both the bumper hitch and that fact that it's a stick shift.
If you have auto and 4-wheel drive, you could probably get a better hitch installed and get away with 3,500 lbs for pulling friends out of snow.
A caveat:
I would not want to tow anything much heavier than 2,000 lbs. with the BroncoII. I've seen situation where a heavier towED vehicle took over the towING vehicle causing it to jackknife.

i dunno if your rear springs are stock but if they are then i wouldnt tow much... i towed a Ford ranger on a trailer once and wont again... (well can anyways dont have the truck anymore) the front wheels were as close to coming off the road as id like and the ##### end was almost bottominf the springs out... as for towing friends say out of the ditch... you need good tires for one as the truck will spin because of its weight there light and wont pull to much... remember to bolt your tow hooks not weld them boltings stronger or even better bolt then weld em.... oh and my Bronco 2 was my first truck to it was an 89'... loved it...
