Post 1996 f150 performance

hey all, im new to ford pickups so i got alot of questions

i have a 1996 f150 "old bodystyle" with the 5.0 and the stock auto, after taking it to the 1/8 mile track and getting well... reamed i think i should be looking in to more power.

i found a supercharger kit for it and it totaly looks like a feasible item for a future purchase but as the truck sits right now it is bone stock, i mean so bone stock that its got every filter replaced on the thing was done at the ford dealership

if im not mistaken, thats all got to go becasue i am looking for performance

ive owned a few other cars so i am pretty sure that the same concept on performance applies

what i would like to do to it is start out with some headers and exhaust, possibly a cam and then when funds permit get heads and a supercharger kit. i know that the tranny and the rest of the drive line would have to get rebuilt to take the extra power after the heads and s/c kit but i may not have to go that far

what do you all think

thanks for ur replys

Good idea on the exhaust, I'm running full true dual exhaust from the shorty headers to the tailpipes and it helped alot on my 5.0 engine. A K&N stock replacement air filter will go great with the exhaust. The biggest gains excluding the supercharger would be some gears, 4.10's would wake your truck up big time but when you add the s-charger you might be to low geared (high numericaly).

The mods available for our year trucks and engines is endless, happy modding

I'd recommed a set of traction bars and some type of ignition/boost retard if you don't plan to have it tuned.
The traction bars will keep the rear end from binding, and the ignition/boost retard will allow some control over the timing to keep it from detonating.

those are some good plans. i'm running a lunati camshaft and edelbrock headers and intake on my 90 5.0. edelbrock also offers heads that i plan to install soon. the supercharger i'm looking at is offered by kennebell. www.kennebell.net

I agree with 95 150. I put a set of straight true duels and 4:10 rearends in my 92' 5.0 and it woke it up on the street. When you put in 4x4 the path is endless depending on how far down the pedal is. I to have put some thought into the supercharger(Keene Bell). tell me how it goes if you install a s/c kit.

Since you like to race, again I say....Traction Bars! They are cheaper than a rear end rebuild.
