All new trucks are nice. In my opinion, trucks these days are just as relaiable as their competitors. All vehicle manufactures have the same technology.
Anyone who is buying a new truck should look at every make. Drive the dodge, chevy, nissan, ect. They're all excellant trucks.. Just pick the one that suits you best.

Drove both - several times. Am now waiting to drive the '05's, but based on the '04's the Titan was substantially better. Either get another valve into that 5.4, or forget about towing anything heavier than a light boat.

Well I seriously doubt the new 3-valve 5.4 needs a 4th. It does seem quite sluggish off the line especialy before break-in but...If you drive it enough you notice more and more just how much Torque the beast has. Turning corners with your foot barely touching that pedal and you can hear the rear tires squeal a tad. If that isn't a sign of Pure Low-end Grunt then I don't know what is. Though I do believe the Ford Could use a 5th Gear Auto or manual. Would be nice if they would develope a mini "Torqueshift" for the F-150's. As for '05 those Torqeshifts are the standard auto for the gassers and Diesel now...Makes me wonder if a F-250 with 5.4 and 5-speed auto could whoop a Similare F-150 down the strip.

Hmm, tried towing my Jeep on a trailer with my buddy's '04 (has the tow package) - wasn't impressed at all. Probably 15K on the odometer, so I'd imagine it's broken in. Say 6500 lbs or so.
Tires squealing in the turns - you might be hearing the LSD. Jeep chirps the tires in the corners _all the time_ - but that's the price for having a real locker (Detroit)

I test drove both trucks as well a couple of times and asked alot of questions about them to mechanics and sales guys. And I was leaning more towards the Titan at first but after finding out little problems that the Titan was arrising I had second toughts.
On my second test drive the handle to adjust the seat broke while adjusting it. Which makes you think twice of the cheap plastics surrounding the interior of the truck. On the window sticker nissan claims 14 miles on the streets mostly everybody is only getting 11 to 12 mpg which is more understandable with a 5.6 liter. Also two buddys of mine have had their rotors replaced one at 3,600 miles and the other at 5,000 miles and the foam on the drivers seat as well since it was sinking in quite a bit. Many rattles in the dashboard that they are still taking to dealers to figure out and they cant. I know the 04' ford is having problems with a vibration on the steering wheel and made me think twice as well but over all I elected the ford and at 6,000 miles with a couple of road trips havent had not one problem yet with it. Just my 2 cents..

Go and price them out thoroughly, option for option.
If you still want to buy the Nissan or Toyota you will pay thousands more for the same truck and it will cost you more to maintain it! GUARANTEED!!
For the money the Ford is the best buy!
Example: Just priced a loaded Camry versus Mercury Sable.........Camry cost $6,000 more and will not come off of the sticker. Mercury dealer will surely deal. Not much difference in those two cars. Who is Toyota kidding?

I follow many different truck forums, including TitanTalk, and have noticed that the Titan has definately had an abnormal number of problems. It seems as if the quality control just hasn't been that great. The F150 has had a few issues as well, but I think Ford did a better job of releasing an all new truck than Nissan. If your decision boiled down to the best drivetrain, the Titan would be the winner for sure. I think Ford needs to produce a larger motor than the 5.4 for the optional V8. The Titan motor produces plenty down low, and pulls all the way to redline, and that is something that the 5.4 just can't seem to do when put in a truck. Sure, it has plenty down low also, but when you pull a heavy load, you are better off with a motor that is strong throughout the rpm range. I have noticed that the 5.4 just runs out of breath too early, and leaves you wishing for more. Ford should shoot for making a new engine with the powerband of the larger Nissan 5.6 and Dodge 5.7. I think this would really put the F150 over the top, because it is otherwise a fine truck.

I was very disappointed when the new 04 F-150 came out. Before it came out the magazines were saying that it was such a great truck with so much power. It looked really good in the magazine pictures too, but when it came out I went down to the dealer to check it out........... and the soft look drove me away. It just seems like its kinda soft and its not like its a really good looking truck. So thats what I think of it but again I own a 1966 F-100 so my expectations were pretty high.
