Very High Oil Consumption 95 psd f-250

I recently purchased a 95 psd f-250 4wd at an auction. It has 240,000 miles on it. My first psd. It has plenty of power but it unfortunately uses around 1 quart of oil for every 100 miles. I heard that it might be the injector seals, or maybe some bad injectors, or problems with the turbo. Is there anyway to narrow the possiblities? And where do I start?

samahi72, sounds like maybe injector 0-rings! One way to check if it is the injector o-rings is take a look at your fuel filter and the fuel in the canister. If it is pitch black you probably have one or more blown. To check the turbo I think you have to pull the exhaust pipe off the turbo and look in the pipe to see if you see any oil in it. Others may give you some better ideas.

Another vote for injector O rings. There have been updated O rings put out since these trucks were built. If you look at the fuel in your fuel bowl (pull the filter out and look down in the bowl) you should be able to see the bottom very easily, the fuel should have a yellowish/greenish tint. If your fuel is very dark it indicates oil in the fuel, most likely from the injector O rings.

I have an MS Word document on R&R injectors which would be the same for just doing the O rings except you reinstall your old injectors instead of new ones. If you would like me to send it to you click on my name and send me an eMail (not a private message) with INJECTOR O RING INFORMATION in the subject line and the eMail address you would like the information sent to in the body of the eMail. This site does not display eMail links in the threads or in private messages.

Injector O-rings 95psd f-250 4 wd

Thanks to all who directed me to replace the injector o-rings in my 95 psd. My next dumb question is: Apparently the o-rings come in a kit. One kit per injector. Each kit supposedly has around 8 o rings. Is that right? I was anticipating one o-ring per injector. Does any one have first hand experience of this repair and do you know where I can see an exploded picture of an injector that shows all the o-rings that need to be replaced? The kits are pricey at anywhere from $16.00-$18.00 each.

According to my manual there are seven rings/seals/gaskets per injector.
