Different rim?

I know the Ford F-100 came with a 5 lug 5.5 inch pattern. I was wondering if there are any other model vehicles with the same lug pattern that the wheels and tires will fit? I heard dodge will fit to?

Other Ford light truck wheels will fit as well- up through '96, I believe. I have '92-'96 Ford five spokes on mine-don't look too bad & were low buck. Mike

As I understand it:

AMC - Jeep (5 Bolt) 42-89
Chrysler 8 cyl and wagon 46-89 + Imperial 54-66
Ford 2 ton vans and all F100 and Bronco
ALL Ford '40 through '48
All Ford pickups untill mid 90's
International Scout
Lincoln all 52-60
Mercury all 39-51
Suzuki Samurai 86-89

A good link is www.teufert.net/wheels/bolt-pat.htm but like all good information sources it is sometimes wrong!

Woops that link went strange on me: www.teufert.net/wheels/bolt-pat.htm

Should have mention for clarity those are US models, down here in Australia it's a different (shorter) list.

There are a few websites with bolt patterns. It appears that there are not too many choices with the 5.5 bolt pattern. Ford vans, early trucks, The suzuki samurai (boy that's a winner) some dodge durangos. Now I know why people change to the 4.5 pattern. Nicer rims and more choices in custom rims are available.

IMLOWR2,

What kind of rim are you looking for: a stock remake? vintage aftermarket? or one of the new(er) wild n crazy styles? What size: 15", 16", 17", 18", 20", 22", or ??? What size tires are you considering?

What I did when I was shopping aftermarket rims (and I believe I exhausted my search on ALL styles out there!), was go to various wheel manufacturer's websites and looked at their styles. If I saw something that caught my eye, I'd click on the picture and usually it'd take me to all the info about the various sizes, bolt patterns, offsets, etc info. Some websites even ask you to input that same info then it'll search it's inventory and show you matches in their product line(s).

Cragar, American Racing, Centerline...et al have websites, so have some fun with it and browse around a little and see what your options are!

Good luck!

DS, I'm not really sure what style I'm going with. Not even sure as to the size, 15,16,17. I know I don't want to go over 17's. I personally like the old style smoothy and paint the inside rim the color of the truck. My wife likes the Billet style rims, Coddington, Budnik, etc. I like them too, but a set rims cost about as much as the truck is worth. LOL.... I have the fake centerline looking type on it, but it just doesn't look right with the classic style of the 56. The torque twist II by American rims are always nice, however everyone and their mother is running them on their street rod, trucks, etc. It's a tough choice. I've been searching magazines and seeing what looks nice. Hate to spend a chunk of change and be stuck with something that doesn't look good. Thanks for the advice. With the 5.5 lug pattern, it really limits you having custom rims.

The "chrome smoothies" are a good rim to represent the era of truck. They are pretty affordable vs. most other styles, and they come in 5.5 lug patterns in 15X7 and 15X8.

Steelies! Doesn't matter if it's stock or aftermarket ones, they'll look the best! Paint them the color of the truck or a white/contrasting color and a set of trim rings with new hubcaps and your set! Price, stockers are hard to find, but they are out there. www.wheelvintiques.com www.stocktonwheel.com and others have nice steelies. Another nice thing, unlike most wheels, steelies never go out of style, even in 20 years they will be cool. Best at giving my opinion, -4speed
