First, how do you know it needs changed?

Second, you have the 5.8 which is in same location as the 302. Front of the engine to the left hand side. It will have a grey cap with a wiring harness connected to it.

Its not that hard, except getting the metal hoses loose due to heat and rust.

well i went to autozone cause my check engine light kept coming on and off and the codes that got brought up were 31, 33 and 35 i think so it all had to do with the EGR, so i figure it needs cleaned or a new one, plus i have lost some power acceleratin wise....just a guess though

Thanks

I replaced mine a few omnths bcak. Took all of 15 minutes. Not hard at all. I use the chiltons manual and common sense.

Very easy.

Big bolt

Be sure top spray that bolt that goes to the Exhaust with wd-40 or similair stuff. I had a huge open end wrench with a long handle for leverage. Yep, took about 15 minutes too.

I just checked, i need to replace the EGR valve and sensor. What all does this entail, still not sure where it is at, i will check my chiltons. How much are the parts for these 2 things? This should take care of my check engine light and rough idle and near stalls. Thanks again

Got my parts at ADVANCE AUTO PARTS for about $75 depending on what year vehicle. Under $100 for both parts. EGR vavle and sensor is to the left of the engine right in front. At least that's where it is on my 1990. Should take 15 minutes to change if all goes well with the bottom bolt. Yes, will fix check engine and rough idle if that the code that it is throwing.

i was pulling egr codes with my 96 302, cleaned the egr valve and all, new tube, no luck. what finally cleared my code was replace the egr pressure sensor or DPFE sensor. also make sure u dont break the EGR tube when taking the valve off, i did =\

Replaced the EGR valve and sensor today. Didn't take too long at all, but got rid of the codes and the check engine light so the truck is good to go. No more rough idle, and a little power back. Yea the sensor connector thing is junk, i broke the one side, but it still holds and the other side still works. I got the EGR valve and gasket for 60 and the sensor for 25 Pretty damn simple, and the auto store in town wanted to charge me 266.00 for it. WOW
