code 124 in continuous memory
Good day to all. yesterday my the check engine light on my 94 ranger 2.3L flashed for about 2 seconds. It started and ran fine, but I hooked it up to the scanner when I got home to be safe it passed in KOEO & KOER tests but had a code 124 cylinder identification circuit failure in continuous memory. What does tha code refer to?
Okay so now i realize that I read the entry for code 214, code 124 is high TPS voltage, this makes sense as there has been a mid throttle hesitation for a while. I will check the TPS.

I was just about to say I'm showing the TPS to be at fault, but now I see your edit,I had a TPS go bad but mine was the LOW code, which caused Very bad performance,It was telling the injectors not to open because the engine was at idle and telling the Transmission not to shift. The TPS was only $26,and now it runs like new.The TPS is hard to test because you have to turn it while you check the readings.some clips on the multi-meter are a must, unless you have 4 hands.

Thank you for the reply, pretty embarassed about the code 124/124 mix up. I have suspected the TPS enough to have checked the voltagee which appeared to be normal from idle to WOT, but with a digital voltmeter kind of hard to see if the volatge is increasing smoothly. I hear the TPS is a pain to relplace becuse of it's location.

Well, the easiest way is to just remove the throttle body, because there is just no way to get to the 2 screws that hold it on,its not that hard,I did mine in about 30 minutes.the trickiest part is the vaccum hose that is under the throttle body to a place down under the intake.leave it hooked to the throttle body and pop it off the intake side, because you'll never be able to get it back on the other way around.
