My name is Andrea. I own an 88 Bronco XLT 4x4 and the tailgate window will not go down (NO motor noise) Can anyone tell me how to get it down manually?

Any help would really be appreciated.

 

Do either one of your switches work ? If not, there's a real good chance that it has popped off of the inner latch on the key side of the tailgate. This happens to mine quiet often. What you do is push in very, very hard to the left of the key and turn the key at the same time to the right so it will hopefully come down. I am assuming that it has been going up and down before now ? Once you get it down, you can try adjusting the striker a littleeither up, down, in or out. I don't have mine adjusted properly so it will pop off every week or so and make a pretty load sound in the back of the Bronco. The 1st few times it popped off, I thought some kids were throwing stuff at me.

the safety switch on the tailgate is a known weakness and problem for the rear window. If you do a search in this forum, you will get more than what you will ever need to fix your window prob.
