Air bags for 1978 f150

I traded for this truck, it had not ran in two years, pulled the truck the shop. Found that the other guy had wire the pluggs for a chevy and not a ford. Fixed the plug configurations, and the truck fired and ran in two turns of the key.

Rebuilt the 400 with, RV cam, Crank,Pistons, heads, complete over haul. The truck has a 4" body lift, and a 6" Sup. lift. I would like to replace the 6" sup. lift with an air bag lift. any sugestions on where to get one that will fit a 1978 ford truck.

Thanks, Any help would be fine.

I've not seen any air ride lift kits for anything besides late model trucks. It can be done- just needs to be custom made. If you are keeping the same height, in the front you could just replace the coils with bags and custom brackets. The rear needs to have a linkage suspension built with bags.

Thanks, I knew that the front would be easy but was not sure about the rear.

Ok, the bags have 13 inches of travel however I installed a small internal bumpstop inside them so they now have just over 12 inches or travel.

Yes they can travel the full distance with out adjusting them if you hit something hard enough just like coils will.

the link to the bags is http://www.goodyearindustrialproduc...pdf/1R8-005.pdf

they work just as good as coils if you don't adjust them and WAY better if you do. I can change the weight of the truck from side to side, front to back, and opposite fr and rr tires.

They are one of the best mods on this truck and allow me to go places any "normal FS" should never go

Joe"
