Automatic Temp Control 96 EB - HELP!

I have a 96 Eddie Bauer with the V-8 and AWD. The Electronic Automatic Temp Control is giving me fits! On mild or slightly chilly days, when set to 65 degrees, i have to turn the blower to it's lowest position and or shut the whole thing off periodically to keep from cooking. It cycles the fan high and low, and changes the air flow from floor to panel etc, but the air is always hot. By jumping from 65 down to 60 I can cool it off, but then it gets too cold. There is no happy medium with this thing. I assume that the EATC is the same in 95's and 97's at least. Did anybody else have this problem, and if so, what's the fix short of taking it to the dealer?? Thanks.

I would bet it is the blend door. A technical bulletin was issued regarding you situation and provides a testing procedure. Alldatadiy.com is were I got my info.

Automatic Temp Control 96 EB - HELP!

I had a similar problem on a '97 explorer EB. When the problem first occurred, I was not getting hot air. Then about a week or so later, all I got was hot air. They said it was the plenum, but luckily it was still under warranty at the time.
