Rear Main Seal And Oil Loss

Rear Main Seal And Oil Loss
1. I have a 1993 2WD Explorer with V-6 that will not stop leaking
oil past the rear main seal.
2. The dealer has replaced the seal twice and from a die test it
shows to still be the source of the leak.
3. The dealer told me that it was a design flaw that needs correcting.
4. I question crankcase pressure and I am told it is vented too good.
5. Checking and changing oil at 3000, I do not have to add any oil.
6. The bottom of the transmission is where the oil is blowing &
burning from.
Have any of you had and solved a rear main seal problem before it was totally blown??
Thanks,
Joe

I agree Avanti!,
plus we don't know how many miles on this explorer
some dealers wrenchers don't like to loosen all the bearings and caps to properly install the upper half of the seal.I beleive this is a split seal.I have used in combination with this seal a High temp silicone that has stopped a few from leaking .but others have had to replace or regrind
the crank and use oversize bearings.the problem with the cranks is it gets a groove worn into it where the seal rides. If this explorer has a a ton of miles on it ,maybe time for a rebuild.
Good luck!
