Question '88 F150 Starts and stalls in hot weather

If my truck ('88 F150, 4.9 liter, FI) has been left in the heat for 6-8 hours when I attempt to start it, it fires, sputters and stalls. When I turn the key a second time, the truck always fires, idles correctly and runs great. If I have been driving the truck for awhile and then stop at a store for a few minutes, when I come back and fire up the truck it starts no problem. In the morning when it is cooler, the truck starts without problem.

I had been having problems with the truck surging during acceleration, as well as a general loss of power. Servicing the fuel injectors seems to have taken care of this. While trouble shooting the performance issues I also replaced the following: plugs, wires, distributor and cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter and crankcase vent filter. I also checked the fuel pumps pressure -- o.k.

The truck runs great -- good acceleration, lots of power, smooth idle -- but the start and stall in the heat is becoming annoying. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thank-you
