changing transmission oil on 6.0 litre diesel?

Just did my first oil change the other day on my new 04 F-250 and while I was underneath I noticed a drain plug on the under side of the transmission,
Is this the only plug needed to take out to change the tranny oil???

Also, whats the little black ball on my dash for ???? I have a Lariat if that means anything......Thanks! drf

yes. BUT it only drains the tranny not the torque converter. and if you want to change the filter which you should if you are chaanging the fluid you still have to drop the pan.

I Dont Get The Auto Lamp Thing... I F You Still Have To Turn On The Switch Why Do They Call It Auto? Also, Can You Just Turn Off The Truck And Walk Away With The Switch On? I Really Like How The Radio Stays On After You Turn Off The Truck, until You Open The Door That Is!

autolamp

The autolamp is active when the headlamp switch is to the position left of straight up (off). In this position, the headlamps will come on in low beams (or high beams, if high beams were on when it last shut off) whenever the 'little black button' senses it is dark enough to need headlights.
You can fool it by putting your cap over it to see how it works. When in this position, you can exit the truck with the headlights on and they will remain on for about 15-30 seconds.

I leave mine on the autolamp all the time--very seldom do I have to override it
by moving the switch to the right to the 'on' position.

And, yes, the radio will stay on with the ignition off until you pull on the door handle.
