My 53 Ford / Mercury parts book lists the part # for the two caps but only illustrates the cap with the Ford text on it. The hub caps are the regular dog dish type.

I have a picture of a '51 Mercury M-3 hubcap in my gallery that is the same as the 53 M-250. It shows a F-100 hubcap beside it. It's in the interesting things I've found gallery.

Does anyone know if Ford/Mercury in their sometimes penny pinching wisdom used the same hubcap on the 1953 M100 as they did on the bigger trucks?

I have one of thsoe hubcaps in the garage but I have a niggling suspicion that the Hubcaps for the '53 1/2 ton were diffferent... I'm not at all sure but I don't want to pay a sign writer to paint the "wrong" thing and have to start over again!

Thanks

GW

for what it's worth the parts book shows for Mercury model "C" takes part # CDTAAA-1130-A Model "D" takes part# CDTTBAAA 1130-A

C= M100 D = M250 "J" = M350 parcel delivery shows same cap

the model "J" uses the same hub cap only for "FORD"

I'm not sure I follow....
Do the different part #'s mean they are different or are the #'s different to go with the application...same product and part on different model...do you follow that?
I'm not sure I do!
Is it the same Hubcap in Nathan's picture correct for the 1953 M100?

The part #'s are differant because the caps are differant. The cap on the right in Nathan's gallery picture is the style that should be stock on the M100 the other cap shown is I believe what is used on the M350

The ford cap style with the Mercury logo off the Mercury cap would be correct for the M-100. The Mercury cap would be correct for the M-250. F/M-350 never had a cap. Panel Delivery trucks had different wheels. Hope this clears it up.

Arrow It's Dress up Time

Thanks guys
I'm off to the sign painter's today to dress up my almostcomplete to drive '53 Mercury M100! I've got one of those Hubcaps but could never find 4 good ones so while the sign painter is gussieing up my M-E-R-C-U-R-Y tailgate, I'm going to have him ppaint my baby moons to resemble the original hubcaps as best we can...
oh the compromises we make

catch ya L8tr... I'd post some pictures of the final build stages but my digital camera broke and is in for 2 weeks of repairs at Kodak Canada.
