Air compressor > supercharger?

Here's an idea. Why not have a big air compressor, with like 100psi in it, with a regulator, to provide boost whenever you need it? Of course you'd have to have some big hose running from it to the intake.

Any thoughts?

It wouldn't take you long to empty that tank given the amount of CFM's required to maintain the same boost as a SC'er....especially since you'd be moving that through 2.5 to 3 inch ductwork instead of a tiny 3/8" air line.

All a supercharger is is a big compressor. What you're describing is actually a SMALL compressor operating at higher pressure, which would require a very, very big tank.
