I've got a 1990 ford ranger 4-cyl--I am desperately looking for a timing diagram--is there anywhere on the net,etc that I can access this????

On the Ranger/B Series board there's a stickey called "Technical Information". You'll find a post about the timing belt (with pics) there.
Anything you need to know about your Ranger is available on the Ranger board.
