Would like to learn about diesel?

I am hoping to purchase 2005 F250, but Ive been doing alot of thinking about the diesel 6.0. I know nothing about how a diesel motor works, is there a web site or info. that explains just how the 6.0 works and identifies all the parts, turbo, intercoolers , filters, and what those parts do. The different kinds of diesel fuel, etc. Thanks alot!

Welcome to FTE.

You might try the 6.0L "Bible" at:
http://www.backglass.org/duncan/ps60_manual/ or
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/diesel.htm and by all means us here at FTE are willing to fill in the blanks.

Slightly off the 6.0 subject. I heard the 05 is suppose to go to coil front springs. I have seen threads on this - pro and con. Just thought I would throw that out.

Something you can do right here, do a search on injectors, then try one on EGT, then…. you get the idea.
As you read take a note of words or motor parts you do not recognize or understand what they are, then search that.
You will have some great reading and very informative.
Enjoy what FTE offers

The bible SBV writes of.....unreal and very good.

Rudolph Diesel was going to or did demonstrate the engine running on vegetable oil. Very interesting indeed.

Check out this site for a diesel:
