I tried to search and couldn't find anything, if nobody respond I'll go measure my TB when I get home. I'm curious myself. the only thing I've found was people having to open up the intake to fit a 75mm on. MAF seems complicated to replace.

Maf Is Easy. I Wouldnt Think Youd Have To Open Up The Intake To Get The Throttle Body On.

Stock throttle body is 65mm and the maf is I think 80mm. Pretty sure on the throttle body but not on the maf. The maf is really easy to replace. if you do it you will need to reprogram your ecu for it. if you were thinking about getting a 75mm throttle body, don't waste your money. Put one on my 97 w/ 4.6 and got no benefit. Actually felt like I lost some horsepower.

My throttlebody on my 2001 5.4L measured 68mm with a pair of calipers on the smallest point in front of the throttle blade.

LxMan1: Is your TB straight thru or hourglass shape? just wondering if any home porting can open it up to the size of the blades. On my Dak it was hourglass and porting really woke it up (I've heard it's that shape to keep it from being touchy just off idle).

Shustang: I don't mean physically take the intake off (is that what you mean?). I read the intake is less than 75mm just after the TB so it won't do as much good as it could. I don't know if they were saying the butterfly would hit or anything.

It just seems hard to replace the MAF w/o completely changing the air box. Not that I'm above that, just seems like more than a bolt on swap. Never really looked at it too seriously though. It's definetly bigger than the TB.

Yes it is hourglass shaped.

When you remove the air filter housing there the MAF is, the center of the air cleaner housing where the MAF is will pop out, then you can unplug it and remove the 2 screws that hold it into the housing. It's easier than it looks.

I've read about switching from the stock TB (65MM) to a 75MM would cause turbulence because of the difference in size between the 75MM and the stock TB neck size.

But what about going to a 70MM TB? Furthermore, would a 70MM for a 4.6L SOHC 'Stang fit a 4.6L SOHC F150? My plans are to put the TB and headers on at the same time...more air in, more air out. Then, I'd have my DiabloChip reprogrammed for both.

Any suggestions, ideas, concerns? Thanks in advance.

I believe that the TB's are shaped different for the Stang and the truck.

Just for clarification: Shaped different as in they won't bolt up when interchanged?

Thanks in advance.
