Sometimes when driving or just idling at a stop sign my oil pressure drops and the oil light comes on. There is plenty of oil and it is clean. Does not smell like gas. Any suggestions on what might cause this? Oil pump or just a sensor maybe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

I would check the sending unit and wiring. Apparently, Ford puts "Dummy Gauges" in all their Trucks. The following link came from a post on this board. Search "Dummy Gauge" and you can find more related posts in these forums.

I agree, if there are no abnormal noises in the engine, try a sending unit first. They have been known to fail.
